Christian Connections Review

After not much luck from Elite Singles, I decided to give Christian Connections (I am Christian by the way, I wasn’t just hopping from one website to the next) a go. It had a similar format to Elite Singles. However it lacked a few things that Elite Singles had. One was that there was no way to search up people. I’d previously browsed a women and thought about messaging her, but forgot after accidentally resetting the page.  So I lost the opportunity to contact her and am struggling to find her again. I also found that once I’d viewed a psd of eligible bachelorette, that once I’d refreshed the page, I struggled to find the same people again. It started to annoy me after awhile.

Eventually i decided to stop using it, after the trial period. Which I appricated, unlike Elite Singles, which can be used without paying. To get the full benefits you really need to pay though.

Elite Singles Review

I’m not usually one for using dating sight. But i decided to give Elite Singles a go. Saying i’d only use Elite, compare to the likes of eHarmony or Tinder (not to discrimimate against any one who uses these) due to wanting to have a geniune relationship and seeing Elite as the most prominent. Unfortunetly like most dating sites, there was an excess fee of roughly $25 Australian Dollars/ per month, to use the sight to it’s full benefits. Which you needed to do if you wanted to actually use the website to it’s full potential.

Having never done anything like this before, i was not sure what to expect, but i was pleasantly surprised. Straight off the bat i got a genuine match and we started messaging straight away and ended up going on several dates. Unfortunately due to some circumstances, mainly the fact she wanted to move over seas and me not willing to. We decided it was best to end it, we ended on good terms and i’m still keep in touch with her. But besides that, i’ve had very little response.

There’s definetly a element of exposure when engaging in online dating. It can often feel pretty degrading, especially when you message someone and get no response. While I’m probably not gonna carry on using the service, I’m glad I made the effort to check it out and at least I got a good friend out of it, which I’d imagine is pretty rare.

First Thoughts: Pokemon Masters

Today I was really excited for the release of Pokemon Masters. For those unfamiliar with this new mobile game, by the Pokemon company. The concept revolves around you teaming up with two additional trainers, mainly gym leaders or familiar faces from the game series. In order to have a three way battle against other trainers. You start off alongside Brock and Misty, each with their own significant Pokemon along with your starter Pokemon, Pikachu.

It’s really time strategy styled gameplay, so you basically keep attacking each of your opponents Pokemon, until you eventually defeat them all or are defeated yourself. You can switch from Pokemon to Pokemon at free will and each Pokemon has a significant attack to it’s type set. There is also a special move that can be used once per battle to deliver a more devastating attack.

I haven’t played a great deal of it thus far, but have really enjoyed what I have played so far and appreciated the way they implemented the various features and strategies into the game, it looks for a very promising experience which I hope to come back to for awhile onwards.

Winnie The Pooh: Emotional Termoil

I watched the live action adaptation of Winne The Pooh, Christopher Robin the other day and as i saw the beloved character of my childhood appear on screen to me in glorious 3D. A thought entered my mind that had never occured to me before. Was each character based on a particular emotion or feeling? I started to picture each character and link them together, here what i came up with.

Pooh represents Forgetfulness

Piglet represents Fear

Tigger represents Joy

Owl represents Wisdom

Rabbit represents Anger

Eyeore represents Sadness (i thought maybe Depression more acuratley describes him, but Depression is more a cause of feelings than being an actual feeling itself).

(I know there have been links to mental health for each character, but i feel emotions and feelings more accurstley decribe them).

Let me know your thoughts.

Pokemon Let’s Go Review

When i first heard about Pokemon heading to the Switch, i was slightly apprihensive. Having gone from a generation of handheld to a more console based handheld, i was worried that the experience wasn’t going to be the same, but i was pleasantly suprised. While you can use the switch in “handheld mode”, it dosen’t nesseserily have the same feel as the DS or Gameboy. The fact that they’ve made this game completely 3D though,  really changed the experience.

Being able to see Pokemon scurrying and flying around the place was really cool and saved the whole random encounter thing. Knowing what Pokemon you where after and what you can catch, saved a lot of effort and stress in finding the Pokemon you wanted. I also like as you caught lots of Pokemon in one area, they would make rarer Pokemon appear in that area.

I also appriciated how they implemented the concept of candies in a very unique way and how catching Pokemon helped to level up your own. I also appriciated the idea of when it came to battling a legendary or Snorlax, you first had to defeat it in battle before you could try and catch it, similar to raid battles in Go.

One thing i was looking forward to was being able to bring in and evolve pokemon from later generations. But ubfortunetly it was gen 1 exclusive, so it couldn’t be done. Which was annoying, but considering it was a geb 1 remake it made sense.

The Go Park was a nice additional feature, allowing you to transfer pokemon from gen 1 acrossto Let’s Go. But it did mean there was no Safari Zone, which i feel they could have done something really cool with it, as it meant Pokemon like Chancy which you’d usually catch in the Safari Zone’s would appear in random places like Mt. Moon. Which was cool in the sense of it adding to the variety of pokemon you could catch in certain places, it also made these Pokemon seem less special, when you would be able to find and catch them pretty easily.

The way the layed out trainers and making the game work with a Go style  to it, worked really well. It was made in such a way that old fans would appriciate it, but still have a few things different, so it didn’t seem too mundane to them, but keeping it as close to the original for those playere who may have started their first Pokemon journey with Let’s Go. The implementation of the Pokeball controller also makes it easy for kids to play with, i personally preferred using the joy con as i found the pokeball controller to be a bit fiddly to work with. I also appriciated the implementation of Alolan forms and that once you’ve defeated the elite gour once, the second time you go though they have alolan forms added to their team, which make it slightly more challenging and the fact that each gym leader dosen’t nesseserily have all pokemon exclusive to their preferred type, but ones tjst closely relate, like Poison and Ghost for Agatha and Rock and fighting for Bruno, all in all though, this was a great game and a testimont to the original game. Would highly recommend to old fans and new.

Sugar: The Ultimate Drug

When you think of drugs, you probably think of something like alcohol or weed. But did you ever consider the fact that sugar might be one. After all, as a society we often crave sweet things and most of us probably consume way more than our recommended amounts of sugar. The worst part is the fact our society virtually jumps on this concept of our need to sugar. No matter what kind of processed or baked good we buy these day, there’s guarenteed to be a large amount of sugar involved in the making of it. While most of us don’t bother to check the sugar content. The sad reality is it’s in there, no matter how small or large the amount. Practically the only things that don’t have prosessed sugar in is fruit and vegetables. Keeping my mind as well that sugar can also lead to increased weight gain, which is extremely unhealthy. So how can we deal with this when companies deliberatly make our product sweet. Well, we could just make everything ourselves, but that’s not always a option. So surely as a society we need to target buisnesses to stop placing so much processed sugars in our food or we’ll all have no teeth in 10 years, unless we deliberatly watch our intake or this massively addictive substance.

Homeless man vs. his pet

The other day i came across a man experiencing homelessnsss, in the city, with a dog lying down next to him. I presumed it was resting and instantly felt compelled to give the guy money, so he could at least feed his dog. I wasn’t personally concerned with the guy persay, but as soon as i saw that he had a dog, my heart felt instantly sorry for him. I know it seems bad, but it’s not very often i come across a people experiencing homlessness with a dog and having a dog of my own, i could sympathies with it.  But part of me was wondering if the guy would make his dog his first priority when it came to food, would he willingly give the dog his food or would he actually feed it or just use the dog as an excuse to make people feel sorry for him, so people would give him money. I know i probably shouldn’t think like this, but it is a thought that crossed my mind and i know homeless people will often do whatever they can to get money, after all they have non. But it did make me wonder how far these people experiencing homelessness are willing to go for a dollar or two.

Your Never Gonna Meet That ‘Perfect Mark’

I’m sure you know of many people, if not yourselves who’ve strived to reach the ‘perfect mark’. They’re willing to do whatever it takes to reach that high ground and knock anyone out of the way to order do so. While we all wish we could meet that mark, it’s never gonba happen and if you ever do, you’ll probably loose something in order to do so, no matter how precious or insignificant this is. Either way, despite feeling good about doing it, you’ll eventually feel bad about it and realise all the pain and effort you’ve gone though wasn’t worth it at all. Especially if it results in your hurting people in the process, which is often the case in these kind of situations, which may not be able to be mended. Just bare that in mind next time you decide to take a stsb at the ‘perfect mark’.

Being Single Is Criminal

Often in life i get the feeling that being a single guy in his mid twenties, is seen as a crime by many. My best mate is in a commited relationship with a girl, engaged to be married and has two kids. I feel like he’s constantly trying to set me up with a girl and i’m perfectly happy where i am in life without a relationship. This may also be due to the fact that he and his fiance, don’t really have any good couple friends and he’s trying to hook me up to fill that void in their lives. But either way it puts a lot of pressure on me to date. Most of my friends around my age are either in a commited relationship and or married and i’m loosing a lot of my single friend who i can hang out with now. One of my really good friends recently got a girlfriend and while we still make time to hang out, it just dosen’t feel the same and i can’t really talk ‘guy banter’ with him anymore. Yet suprisingly i still do it with my best mate. All i’m saying is that maybe i’m not ready for a relationship yet, despite what others say and it’s not from a lack of trying either as i’ve had two failed attempts to ask out a girl within the last few years. I know i may be sounding like i’m wining a bit, but it’s hard to get a persective from ‘outside the dome’ where i feel perfectly happy with my current life. But i’m honestly curious, are there guys or girls out there on their mid twenties who are copping the same grief as me or am i just being pedantic? Let me know what you guys think

Don’t Live Your Life Trying To Please Others

When i was at TAFE i was asked to do a poster for a group assignment for a event. I tried to make the poster as perfect to my class mates vision as possible and after several rehashes, i was really happy with what i’d done. But i ended up getting it rejected instead for the flyers made by another class mate, which we turned into a poster. They complained i didn’t get help like i should have. Where in my mind i was trying my hardest to make it look good, i wanted it to be as best as i could without help from others and due to the stress of it all, it made me very aggrivated by the end of it. What it taught me is that you shouldn’t live your life trying to please people, because your never gonna meet the standards they require of you. Instead you should just live your life appriciating the efforts you’ve done and pat yourself on the back for a good job, even if you don’t meet the expectation of others. I have that poster on my bedroom wall to remind me of this and that you should only please yourself rather than others.

I’d also just like to add that sometimes in life your required to meet other people’s needs, like when it comes to things like work, but generally speaking you should never let it become a habit or run your life. You are the ruler of your own life, no one else is.
